NAHF State Council of the Year

The Maine Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Sports, Health, and Wellness was presented the State Council of the Year Award by the National Association for Health and Fitness (NAHF) at their 29th annual Gold Star Awards Dinner held in Buffalo, New York, April 24th.  The council was selected from all NAHF state council members for their exceptional health and fitness programs and services.  Ben Schaffer, awards chairperson stated, "It was not hard to select Maine as this year's winner because they provide so many wonderful programs for their state residents.  No other state even came close to their record."  Some of the programs Maine was recognized for include:  Legislative Wellness Day, Maine in Motion, and ACES to name a few.  Elanna Farnham, Council member and Chair of the Maine in Motion program, accepted the award on behalf of the Council and the Governor at the awards dinner.
