Home Town Days

The Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Sports, Health, and Wellness continued their partnership with the University of Maine Women's Basketball Team during the 2002-2003 season.  Home Town Days once again celebrated Head Coach Sharon Versyp's Lady Black Bears squad through activities performed by various age groups representing towns across the State of Maine.  Participants included  the Maine Wheelers (a wheelchair basketball team), members of the Augusta Middle School girls basketball team, the Little Lady Dribblers of Gray/New Gloucester, and members of the Special Olympics Maine Penobscot County basketball team.  All participants were encouraged to make posters cheering on the Lady Black Bears.  These events continue to be designed to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity.
